People driving down a particular neighborhood street in California are treated to a spectacular Christmas light show which includes a piano and giant guitar that are synced to the music from all six of the Star Wars episodes. A music teacher turned his house into a viral video and of course, the instruments are even playing the real notes. Some cool features include dueling light sabers on the roof top and a TIE fighter battle scene with smoke. The music teacher says his neighbors are very supportive however I wonder if they are really feeling like the Griswold’s neighbors. Amazing what you can do with technology and an unlimited power bill.

Here is a neighborhood with 20 houses all synchronized to Wizards of Winter. This video footage was recorded using a drone to capture all of the homes together.

  1. I am so glad you posted this. I saw the end of this on t.v. the other day and was so bummed that I missed it. I think all the light shows people do in their yards are so awesome. I really enjoy seeing how creative people get with their lights each year. I think it would stink to live on the same road with someone who does this every year though. The lights would keep you up if they kept them on late, and not to mention the traffic it would accumulate in the area. Still, I think it is a great way to show holiday spirit.

  2. Well, now I know its not possible to top this unless I managed to get a real life Wookie covered in christmas lights.

  3. That is AWESOME.

I always loved seeing these kind of crazy creations people do during the holidays.
It must have taken AGES to complete though, but that is truly a good job done.
People never get tired of seeing this stuff so I guess people are just gonna keep making this stuff haha. 🙂

    Thanks for sharing!

  4. Hi , nice show and i think these show or similar will be in Dubai but thanks for sharing these .

  5. Wow, I’m really impressed. This is amazing, it must have been quite a challenge to set up a system like this and work according to their intentions. Sadly, where I live, people don’t do stuff like this.

  6. I’m really not sure what to make of it. It’s certainly one that sticks out, let’s just say. But I just see a lot of flashing lights doing very little else. But maybe that’s just me 😉

  7. Awesome show. I have to be “that guy”, though, to mention that I’m usually more impressed by “interactive light hacks”, like whatever-they-did-to-play-Tetris-on-a-skyscraper 😀

Not that _this_ is bad, ’cause it ain’t. It’s just that I’m a fanatic gamer and this… This doesn’t… er… have a high score? 😛

  8. That’s so awesome! It must have taken so long to set up though and probably cost a fortune. I’m not even sure how I would begin a project of that magnitude.

Looks undeniably beautiful though. I hope they get millions of views on YouTube.

    • If this was a decade ago and those were running incandescent bulbs, I’m sure it would literally cost a fortune to leave running all night long. I’m hoping the LED bulbs save him some of that power bill cost though, because just the price in all those lights (not to mention manhours spend designing it) would be staggering.

  9. It looks great. He must have had a load of spare time, and those neighbors must be really considerate! I think I saw this on another website another day, and I do hope that he gets some form of happiness from this!

    • Can you imagine the satisfaction of pulling this project off with the looming deadline (Christmas, I presume)? Your entire neighbourhood would likely bond over it as it certainly is a unique experience that you don’t encounter just anywhere.

I like it, and the nerd-cred is pretty sweet too.

  10. Very pleased that the cantina song made it in. Loved those little faces. Would definitely not want to pay that electric bill though!

  11. I seen this online and thought it was quite crazy too! I can only imagine their hydro bill and am just happy its not mine! lol. Anyways, I love what they did though and I am sure it was well worth it to them to know that many people were filled with joy upon seeing this 🙂 Not many people think of others in our society anymore, so this gives me hope!

  12. I’m loving what cheap computing is allowing creative people to accomplish. Arduinos, Raspberry Pis and other devices like them are enabling incredibly sophisticated home automation for both fun and convenience.

I hope to one day wire up a smart home (a la Gates’ home). It’d be great being able to live with features that only previously existed in scifi movies.

  13. Very well made and fun to see! Wonder if he’s gonna be shooting fireworks on top of that… 🙂

I would love to walk by such a house but, I’m pretty sure that with the loud music, if you’re not a fan, it can get old in a matter of days to live next to this house!

  14. Christmas lights sync? Awesome. Star Wars? Even better.

I dunno why this makes me so happy but boy does it. Hopefully next year I’ll actually get off my butt and do something similar. Just don’t know where to start. Does anyone know of a good place to look for the timers, or whatever you need to get started?

  15. I could not stop watching it haha, that is just insanely good. But I don’t think I would be so forgiving if I were his neighbor.

  16. Well, it’s good to know that some people are still putting up lights, in our neighborhood, we were the only ones who put up major lights. Good job!

  17. That is not something you see every day. Sometimes I wonder why things like these do not happen here where I live.

It is indeed awesome what you can do with technology these days but it’s not only the technology but also the creativity of these artists performing these kinds of things.

  18. That really is fantastic! However, I’m not sure I’d like to be his neighbor. Imagine the amount of cars that must drive past to have a look! The amount of light would be annoying too, especially if I wanted to get t o sleep early. Brilliant effort though, it really does look amazing.

  19. My neighborhood is fairly large, so driving past it will most likely give you a headache. One house on the block has a radio set up along with lights, and they work together to create a light show. Some people are extremely festival in my neighborhood, especially during Halloween.

  20. Awesome! I was mesmerized watching this, then I had to get my nieces in the same room and watch this with me! They loved it! I wish there was something like this over here, sadly people over here don’t really put too much effort on decorating their houses for Christmas 🙁 Boring houses everywhere during Christmas.

    • Completely agree. Are you by any chance in the UK? Here people don’t do this kind of stuff, which kind of sucks to be honest. I would basically pay for a show like this in the middle of the night!
